GAC GS3 Emzoom (SUV SERIES)

The GAC GS3 Emzoom the B-segment SUV is now in available for Malaysian. It comes in two variants, Exclusive and Premium-R, and is priced at RM118,900 and RM128,900 on-the-road without insurance, respectively, for fully imported (CBU) models.

Starting out as a fully imported (CBU) gem, the GS3 Emzoom is now proudly rolling off the assembly line as a CKD model at the Tan Chong Motor Assemblies (TCMA) plant in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur. Guess what? Assembly just kicked off last month, as gleefully announced by WTC Automotif, the GAC distributor.

It is said this entry by the China’s brand rivals up to the brands like  Proton X50, Honda HR-V, and Chery Omoda 5, and others.

THE MECHANICAL

The 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine in the GS3 Emzoom produces 270 Nm of torque between 1,400 and 4,500 rpm and 177 PS at 5,500 rpm.

A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission transfers the power to the front wheels. The fuel consumption is 5.9L/100 km, according to GAC.

The suspension system for the car consists of MacPherson struts in front and a torsion beam arrangement in back, with 18-inch alloy wheels wearing 225/55 tires.

THE EXTERIOR

The GS3 Emzoom, which is based on the manufacturer's GPMA platform, is 52 mm longer, 25 mm wider, and has a 2,650 mm wheelbase than its predecessor. Its dimensions are 1,850 mm in width, 4,410 mm in length, and 90 mm in wheelbase.

Exclusive Variant

Premium-R Variant

Compared to the Premium-R variant which adds a sportier visual look fitting its contrasting orange highlights and R Style exterior sport package, the latter contributing to the variant’s greater overall length at 4,446 mm compared to the Exclusive variant which is at 4,410 mm.

It comes in four exterior colours – Salt Lake Blue, Ivory White, Graphene Grey and Super Star Silver.

THE INTERIOR

The GS3 Emzoom's interior features synthetic leather in a two-tone blue and black color scheme, along with a multifunctional steering wheel with leather finishing.

The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes with

• Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android smartphone mirroring
• Surround-view camera suite
• Electric parking brake with hold button function 

These are the standard features on both variants.

Compared to the Exclusive variant, Premium-R is equipped with:

• Hands-free power tailgate
• Multicolored ambient lighting
• Wireless smartphone charging
• Automated climate control
• Six-way driver's seat power adjustment
• Panoramic sunroof

For the luggage compartment, it holds 341L. However it is expandable by folding the back seats having 1,271L of space in total.

For the safety aspect of the car, both variants come with:

• Dual front and dual front-side airbags
• Disc brakes on the front and rear
• Hill hold control
• Electronic stability program (ESP)
• Blind spot vision

In addition to the above, the Premium-R variant comes with:

• Advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) includes lane departure warning
• Front collision warning
• AEB
• Traffic sign recognition
• Park assist
• High beam assist

In Malaysia, the GAC GS3 Emzoom is sold with a five-year, 150,000 km manufacturer-backed warranty. In their launch package, the first 2,000 buyers of the vehicle will receive a free of charge three-service maintenance package and a seven-year, 180,000-kilometer powertrain warranty for the first registered owner. 

A GAC smart watch key, valued at RM1,388 and combining the characteristics of a smartwatch with the functionality of an original car key, is also available to the first 2,000 purchasers.
