Last week we saw that the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has launched a special “FF” & “QRT” vehicle registration series to commemorate its 77th anniversary. Bidding was done through their JPJeBid portal. According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, JPJ earned more than RM10 million for other series in the past. He is confident that this 'FF' series will generate substantial income for the government. The highest bid was for an FF8 number plate, which sold for a high RM950k, and the total amount bid was RM34.3 million. While the rest of us work hard to save up for the automobiles of our dreams, there are others who have made enough money to not only buy the cars of their desires but also guarantee that they will receive the license plates of their choice. To get one of these license plates, some people have spent nearly a million Ringgit.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke reportedly said that the FF registration number series had set a new national record for collection with the introduction of online bidding, as reported by Astro Awani. A record RM34.3 million was generated from the series. The highest bid was for registration number FF8 at RM950,000, followed by FF9 at RM911,999, then FF3 at RM639,000, FF2 at RM638,000, FF7 at RM633,000, and so on. Moreover, FF199 attracted 34 bids, FF51 attracted 32, FF115 attracted 31 bids, FF555 attracted 30, and FF1688 attracted 29 bids. These five registration numbers were the most sought after.
